Can AI get in?
- Loads over a secure connection
The address starts with https. Browsers warn people away from sites without it, and Google has counted it in rankings since 2014.
- Open to search and AI indexes
A “noindex” instruction asks every index to leave a page out. It is often left behind after a redesign.
- Lets AI crawlers in
A robots.txt file can shut out the crawlers that read the web for ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini. A crawler that is shut out has nothing of yours to quote.
- Words are in the page itself
AI crawlers generally do not run scripts. If your words only appear once a script has run, the crawler sees an empty page.
Does the page say what it is?
- Page title
The first thing a search engine or an assistant reads about a page. We look for 30 to 65 characters: room to say what you do and where, without being cut off.
- Page description
The summary that can appear under your name in search results. We look for 70 to 165 characters.
- One main heading
One main heading tells a reader, and a machine, what the page is about. None, or several, leaves it to guesswork.
Can AI tell who you are?
- Says who you are in structured data
Structured data states your name, address, phone and services in a format machines read without guessing.
- Answers questions in its headings
People ask assistants questions. A page that asks the question in a heading and answers it underneath is easier to quote.
- Phone number in the text
A phone number written as text can be read and matched with your listings elsewhere. A number inside a picture cannot.
Are the files crawlers look for there?
- Has a sitemap
A sitemap lists your pages so that crawlers can find all of them.
- Has an llms.txt file
A new and optional file that gives AI systems a short guide to your site. Some AI tools read it. Google has said it does not use it.

No AI assistant is involved. A site can pass every check and still go unmentioned, and a site that fails some can still be named.
It cannot see what others say
Reviews, directories and press are outside its reach. In our 2026 tests, the businesses’ own websites made up 5% of the sources the engines cited. Read the report.

Is the AI visibility check free?
Yes, both parts. The instant check needs no sign-up and no payment details. The full check is run by a person and sent to you by email, and it is free too.
What does the instant check look at?
Your homepage and three small files: robots.txt, sitemap.xml (or the sitemap your robots.txt names) and llms.txt. It runs twelve pass-or-fail checks on them: whether AI crawlers can get in, whether the page says what it is, and whether a machine can tell who you are.
Does the instant check ask ChatGPT about my business?
No. It reads your website and nothing else, which is why it takes seconds. Asking ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity what they say about you is the full check, which a person runs when you ask for it.
Do you keep the website address I enter?
No. The address goes to our server so that it can read the site, the results come back to your browser, and neither is stored. We do not ask for your name or your email. The privacy policy has the detail.
If I pass every check, will AI recommend me?
Not necessarily. Passing means AI crawlers can read your site and tell who you are. Whether an assistant names you also depends on what other websites say about you: in our 2026 tests, the businesses’ own websites made up 5% of the sources the engines cited. Nobody can guarantee a recommendation.
